Marjon Kuipers | Mediator | Trainer | Behavioural analyst | Autism consultant
In 2008 I started the Autism Academy and I am proud of what my team and I have been able to achieve together. Without the knowledge of my friends and colleagues with autism this would never have happened.
We were the first trainers to offer trainers with autism a fully-fledged role as trainer and coach with a competitive fee for their work. In the beginning we were jokingly dismissed by the regular parties as an “emancipation organisation for autism”. I embraced this as a badge of honour. Fortunately, experience experts are now indispensable, even in regular mental healthcare.
I am still involved with autism with the aim of creating as much independence and personal responsibility as possible for those with autism to whom I am close. Because we are not there yet! We still do not know what autism is. Many roads have been walked, with trial and error, laughter and tears, frustrations and victories, with the result that after all these years I can empathize with the experience of someone with autism, but also with that of those who interact with it on a daily basis.
From my NLP and Mediators education and course in the field of communication I have experienced how the life of the person with autism but also that of his or her environment is enriched when you learn to look from this world. For me, equality and individuality are important here. Increasing the empowerment of people with autism and their immediate environment is also an essential starting point. I follow the developments in the field of autism closely, but I still learn most from people with autism in my own circle.
I have completed the academic Master in Mediation and the study Graduate Specialist Analytic Profiling. My specialism is in the field of the functioning of emotions and stress-response systems. Because I consider my own development, as a basis for knowledge transfer, to be very important, I am currently pursuing – together with my profile colleague Ingrid de Jong – the Master’s degree Communication, Behaviour and Credibility Analysis at The Emotional Intelligence Academy | Manchester Metropolitan University in England. From the Netherlands Business Academy | Erasmus+ I provide the Master Mediation program at the affiliated foreign universities.
As a Criminal and Family Court Mediator and Special Executor for Youth Affairs, I specialize in mediation where one of the parties has a form of autism.
I do this from my practice www.mediationvisie.nl
Emotions
During my studies Graduate Specialist Analytic Profiling and Master Mediation, I researched the role of stress & emotions and the influence thereof on physical and mental well-being. My motivation for this was, among other things, the role that emotions and behavior play in relation to autism in my personal life. Knowledge of this has helped me to better understand emotions and behavior in general. And specifically with autism. Knowledge in this area is indispensable for me when making real contact with people with and without autism.
My belief is that we will all feel much better if we can live together more lovingly. This starts with a first step, yours! I am happy to help you with that.
